Watever m writin here about Mahabahrat n its characters are true to ma knowledge n if any mistakes are there i apologize 4 d same. Now I chose the topic of Mahabharat coz many of ma frns dunno bout its characters n its total story. So this post is particularly for them. C'mon guys it's the greatest epic on earth. We should know about it. I'll update the epic-story from time to time. Once upon a time there was a king named Shantanu. He ruled over Hastinapur in north India. His dynasty was known as the Kaurav dynasty due to his ancestor King Kuru. He was a very brave and just king. Once while he was hunting he happened to have seen one of the most beautiful woman on the shores of the river Ganga. He immediately gave his introduction and proposed her for marriage. The young lady put forward 2 conditions, which if the king agreed to fulfill would lead to their marriage. Her conditions were : 1. The King would never ask her name. 2. The King would never question her acts or stop her from doing them. She told the king that if these promises were broken then she would leave the king. The great Shantanu vowed the two conditions and married the young lady. Now as years passed by the lady bore the kings' sons, but none lived more than a day. The lady on the day of their birth would take them to the riverside of Ganga and drown them in the water. Shantanu knew about these heinious acts of her but was unable to do anything. The lady drowned 7 of new born sons. But when she was again going to drown her 8th son, Shantanu couldn't stop himself and asked the lady to stop it. The king at last had broken his promise. The lady told him that he had broken his promise and she would now leave him and take the child alongwith her. King Shantanu pleaded with her and asked her who she was and why was she doing so?
